These two projects were bid in August of 2006 at a cost of $175,000,000.00 with a total concrete pavement cost of $25,781,107, With approximately 72 paving lane miles for both projects. The west contract R-28444 consisted of 250,571 sys of 16\" concrete pavement, and the east contract R-28690 consisted of 314,400 sys of 16\" concrete pavement, for a total of 564,971 sys of QA/QC concrete. The projects were split into two phases the westbound lanes in phase 1, and the eastbound lanes in phase 2. Both projects had an intermediate completion date of November 14, 2007 for all lanes to be opened to unrestricted traffic.
